Seychelles Stripeless Day Gecko

This small endemic species of gecko, as the name suggests, is commonly seen during the day on buildings, coconut palms and banana trees.

It is widespread within the Seychelles and can be found on almost all the inner granitic islands and even on several coralline islands.

This gecko can grow up to 14 cm in length, its body is lime green in colour with coloured dots and bars on the back. Males can have a blue or turquoise coloured lower back and tail.

Interestingly, this species has the unique ability to dramatically change the intensity of their colour based on the presence or absence of light.

Unlike other geckos, this species does not glue their eggs to a surface but places them in hidden, safe areas for incubation.
