Bridled Tern

This seabird nests on Cousine’s rocky boulders in intervals of 8.5 months. Never forming large colonies, these birds are often seen alone or in pairs on rocky, exposed areas on the Island.

Bridled terns forage closer to shore than other seabirds, taking advantage of predatory fish that chase the smaller fish to the surface, thus minimising the necessity for plunge-diving.
