Tourism is vital to the economy of the Seychelles; bringing in three quarters of the foreign exchange and making up more than half of the gross domestic product; and its for this very reason that Seychelles island travel can attribute this to the beautiful beaches, grey boulders, lush tropical vegetation and magnificent holiday accommodations, providing a range of exciting holiday opportunities for both the adventurous and the lazy sun worshipper.

Air Seychelles, the national airline, operates weekly flights between Mahe and seven major cities, Johannesburg being one of them. Seychelles Island travel offers multiple daily flights between Mahe and Praslin and several times per week between Mahe and some of the other islands.

Seychelles International Airport is 10km south of Victoria on Mahe, where helicopter Seychelles provides shuttle services and chartered flights between Mahe and the other outlying islands.

When it comes to Seychelles island travel, some of the islands have no cars even, and people get around with golf buggy's - car rental is only available on Mahe and Praslin while taxis can only be found at the airport and outside the larger hotels. There are also local buses on the islands of Mahe and Praslin, plus bicycles for hire or ox carts. Seychelles island travel becomes possible when you take a yacht charter from Port Victoria - this is the harbour and a gateway to other interesting mainland sights of the country. The different islands are better experienced when you go sailing in Seychelles so make sure you have your snorkeling and diving equipment with you when you anchor at some great swimming sights.

Take a break from cars, buses and taxis - Cousine Island affords you the chance to break with all forms of hustle and bustle and to simply enjoy the simplicities of life, like a walk in peace.
