A sad goodbye

It is with great sadness that we have to say goodbye to this beautiful island.

Our four and a half years on Cousine Island have been spectacular and it had really become home. Cousine Island is one of those special places that will crawl into your heart and never leave it, whether you visit it for a day, a week or stay longer. The closeness of nature, the ever changing environment, the beautiful views, stunning sunsets and azure waters all combine to create the best experience.

Today we will take our babies, Sassie and Squeaker for a last walk before we leave the island. These 2 critters (Seychelles Fruit Bats) have dug themselves deeply into our hearts and it is heart-breaking to say goodbye, but we leave them in very capable hands. Similarly we will miss the turtles, the birds, the insects, the tortoises, the reptiles and yes, the wonderful guests we have met over our time on the island.

Our two babies, Sassie watchful as ever and Squeaker fast asleep.

We are happy to know the island will carry on after we leave and we feel safe in the knowledge that our 2 replacements are wonderful people who are as passionate about nature as we are and we wish them all the best for their future on the island.

We want to take this opportunity to thank the owner of the island and his wife for everything they have done for us and for giving us this great opportunity to work on this piece of paradise!
