Set up in 1989, the Tourism for Tomorrow Awards recognise and promote the world's leading examples of best practice in responsible tourism development across four categories:
- Destination Award
- Conservation Award
- Investor in People Award
- Global Tourism Business Award
Cousine Island has been nominated for the Conservation Award 2008 which is awarded to a company that can demonstrate that their efforts to ensure sustainable tourism development and operations have made a significant contribution to the conservation and preservation of natural heritage. This includes, but is not limited to, the protection of wildlife, natural habitat and biodiversity conservation.
